September 8, 2026 – Leadership Meeting Minutes

  1. DISTRICT ITEMS
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector Activation Form Training – Deputy Chief Schimanski – This form is to be completed any time you check for gas leaks. Make sure you ask if they start their car in the garage and leave the door open. You should be on air packs for safety reasons. Anything over 35 PPM residents need to leave immediately. Turn off the gas at the appliance and then call the gas company. Open the windows and air out the building. CFD personnel need to sign the form and have the homeowner sign; give the homeowner the White Copy and the Yellow Copy gets attached to the incident. Turn gas or propane off at the appliance, not the house
  • Duty Chief Weekends – Discussion about the current structure of Duty Chief weekend coverage. Some feel it’s beneficial to interact with district personnel, others mention they feel like they are stepping on station leaderships toes going into their area. Per Chief, think about it. We will finish the month of September as it is and then we’ll make a decision on moving forward.
    • C5 will be transitioned to the paramedic chase vehicle as of October 1, 2026.
    • If Duty Chief weekends continue, C4 will be the DC vehicle.
  • Leadership Self Evaluations – Chief White will be passing out evaluations for leadership. Each leadership personnel needs to complete the form. Chief will be meeting with each station leadership in October to review evaluations and expectations.
  • Ambulance Coverage/QRU – ALS licensing will be effective October 1st. Volunteers are who have gotten us to the point we are, and we cannot thank everyone enough. We have had some concerns come forward about volunteers feeling like they aren’t getting hands on experience. The fact of the matter is patient care is our priority, the AB will not be waiting around for QRU to show up. Moving forward, we highly recommend that EMS personnel apply for the part-time positions. We need the coverage and it’s the best way to get experience.
    • Station 1 – QRU members who want to continue running regularly, need to apply for the part-time EMT positions.
    • Station 2 – QRU will continue to run as they are. Any member interested in part-time AB shifts are encouraged to apply.
    • Station 3 – QRU will continue to run as they are and we will evaluate how things are working once the AB is running out of Menan. Any member interested in part-time AB shifts are encouraged to apply.
    • Station 4 – QRU members who want to continue running regularly need to apply for the part-time EMT positions.
    • Application deadline for this round closes Friday September 11th
  • Volunteer Applications – At this time we will not be accepting applications for volunteer positions. We are accepting applications for full-time positions, Part-time EMT positions and Part-time Paramedic. Once we are through the hiring process for the current needs, we will evaluate volunteer positions.
  • Payroll for September – Paper checks will be issued this week. They can be picked up from the office as of Thursday September 10th.
