Fire District Commissioner Meeting

Opening Prayer: Jim called the meeting to order at 8:02.  The opening prayer was offered by Gordon Ball.  Those present were Commissioners Jim Deuel, Gordon Ball, Mike Miller, and Roger Anderson. Assistant Fire Chiefs Nic White and Jared Giannini; and Battalion Chiefs Jim Kelley, Blaine Ker, Cory Albertson and Mitch Bingham, and Attorney, Dennis Wilkinson. Dallin Gambles, and Chief Carl Anderson were excused. Nile Hall kept the minutes. There were no patrons present.

Approval of Agenda– ACTION ITEM: Roger moved to approve the agenda as written.  Mike seconded. The vote by Jim, Gordon, Mike, and Roger was unanimous in the affirmative. 

Approval of Minutes – ACTION ITEM: The minutes were reviewed by the commissioners previously.  Jim moved to accept the minutes as written.  Gordon seconded.   The vote by Jim, Gordon, Mike, and Roger was unanimous in the affirmative.

Budget Review: Nile reported that the financial situation was very good. The fiscal year has been completed. The year ended with a positive value of $32,462.77 net income.

Approval of Expenditures – ACTION ITEM: Jim reviewed the expenditures and didn’t see anything out of order.  Jim moved to approve the expenditures in the amount of $56,548.76 and payroll in the amount of $55,137.33. Mike seconded.   The vote by Jim, Gordon, Mike, and Roger was unanimous in the affirmative. 

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. No old business to discuss. 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. An anonymous donation of $10,000 was given to the Fire District. Commissioners and Staff will consider its usage and make proposals of how to use the donation effectively. Proposals will be considered next month.
  • Discussion regarding to a proposed cost of living adjustment to Staff and volunteers. Roger proposed a cost of living of 6% be given to all staff and volunteer effective 10/1/2021. Gordon seconded and the vote by Jim, Gordon, and Roger was unanimous in the affirmative. Mike abstained from the vote.
  • Possible tortclaim from Lavaside Fire in Firth was discussed with information from Dennis. Discussion was tabled pending information which will be coming at some time in the future.

ASSISTANT CHIEF REPORT:  Nic reported Truck 163 is being held up by a light bar. One has been found for them and we could see the truck in a couple of weeks. 181 is also coming along well. There were 135 EMS calls and 29 fires in month of September.

COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Jim called to adjourn the meeting at 8:40. Mike moved to adjourn. Roger seconded.   The vote by Jim, Gordon, Mike, and Roger was unanimous.
